Skill tree

In development of the character skills, it became apparent that it was difficult to manage all the options available to each class. It was therefore decided a skill tree will be designed and implemented. The skill tree has three tabs and displays the skills available for each tab and their details based on level requirements.

Auction house

An auction house has been designed for buying and selling wares. Since items are a key part of RotA, this feature should be very much enjoyed. It is currently being decided whether or not there should be more than one currency used..

Spells update

With the spells in development, we decided to increase maximum skill level from 3 to 10 for most skills. Some simply cannot progress after 5 levels so were capped there. It will take 10 player levels to get level 10 on each of the skills and special ability points are required. Ability points will be rewarded throughout the game for various achievements.

Spells

The enormous task of planning skills and spells has begun. With a target of 30 per character class, and 8 character classes, there must be a final total of 240! It has been important to create unique skills and spells in order to have unique characters. We initially drew up plans with over 400 ideas, before peeling back the overlap and removing our least favourite.

Pets

We have been working on some of the “pets” that will aid different character classes. On the whole, pets will grow in level as the character does, the Bone Familiar, for example will be a bony reflection of his master’s level, health, damage and defence.

Item craft

For those player that enjoy to personalise items, we have completed an item crafting system that will allow you to imbue your trinkets with your very favourite attributes. Special artisans in town will assist you with your masterpiece.

Group hunting

As an important aspect of the game, we wanted to make sure we got group hunting right. Groups will benefit from shared experience, synergistic skills and increased drops. There will be a simple invite and management window for the group leader and a list view for members.

Gold and silver quests

The quest system is now in progress, which contains a series of gold and silver quests. Gold quests are primary story-line quests, which you must complete in order to progress though the game. Silver quests are there to aid you throughout, and can be ignored. When a quest is available you will receive a notification, however some silver quests are hidden until you discover them.

World monsters

We have spent some time considering which monster should rule under the Arcane Lords. There will be a handful of regions, dungeons, caves or temples, each with a dominant boss, a sub-boss, and a mob of minions, demons and monsters.
Each will spawn within a range of levels and intelligence, meaning that in any group of monsters none will be the same.
